Daddy and Fortuna

WOW, What can I say other than what a fantastic morning Apryl and I have had!

Let me bring you up to speed.  Tuesday after our day at Curu and Isla Tortuga, Apryl and I spent the day with her father. We stopped to see some friends before our drive down to the Jaco area.  We saw Memo and his family.  Memo was a dear friend of mine who took care of my car (he was my persoanl mechanic).  We then took a drive to Tarcoles to see the the 50 or so crocodiles in the Tarcoles River.  Then we went to see his boat at the Los Suenos Marriott Marina.  This hotel and marina is so beautiful.  The town Herradura has grown since I last was here and is now so "amerian" that there was a subway in the shopping market near the hotel and marina.  Apryl got to spend some time on the boat and saw where her dad worked.  After we had lunch at a small local 'soda' we went to the beach.  Apryl and her father swam in the waves, built a volcano in the sand, and played while mommy rested on the beach in the sun (like always).  While we were there a flock of lapas (Scarlet McCaws) came to the trees on the beach and made such noises.  They were squawking and screaming and chasing one another flying above us.  Their colors are amazing!  We returned to Puntarenas late in the day (after dinner) and went home to pack for our trip to Fortuna and Monteverde.

Wednesday am we got up early and took a bus ride to San Ramon, to then take another bus ride to Fortuna.  Unfortunately for Apryl she gets bus sick.  This was news to me and when we got to San Ramon we went to the drug store for motion sickness. This helped greatly and she slept most of the 2 hour bus ride to Fortuna.  Lucky for me I was able to enjoy the scenery without worrying she was going to throw up on me.

We got to Fortuna and checked into our hostel resort and relaxed by the pool bar.  Apryl played and made friends with a couple from Switzerland who taught (or tried to teach her) chess.  We went to bed kind early since a rain storm came in and after all the bus travel we were worn out.

This morning we had an amazing adventure!  We got picked up by a tour to take us on the ATV experience on a farm next to the volcano.  Apryl rode with the guide, Augustine, who taught her to drive the ATV!  Grandpa and Grandma would have been so nervous, but also so proud at what a great driver she was!  On our 3 hour trip we saw an eagle, white hawk, many toucans, a baby rainforest hot nosed pitviper, a youn eyelash palm pitviper, and Apryl spotted a boa constrictor before the guide on the trail.  Apryl was so freaked out, but was so happy to see all these snakes and animals.  The view and the grip was awesome!

Tonight we go to the Baldi Hot Springs for a hot bathe in the hot water and we will have dinner there too.

Tomorrow we aren't sure what we are going to do, but I am sure you will check back to see our latest adventures!

Pictures are not uploading here in the internet cafe....well one did, but it took about 10 minutes and I am way too impatient.  We will try again later!
